Denvilles and Warblington – June 2018

We were pleased to support the Big Lunch on Saturday 2nd June 2108. This is a very successful event which encourages the local community to come together.

Our short march from Warblington School was briefly interrupted at the level crossing, then continued to the Stride Centre, bringing the sound of the Pipes and Drums to Warblington and Denvilles.

After some very welcome refreshments, provided by Dave and his team on a beautiful sunny day, we played a short set in the garden, which was much appreciated by the audience.

It was interesting to see that the balance of male/female pipers was almost 50/50 on this engagement.

We were lucky to have the varied experience of female pipers Andrea, Caroline, Christina and Diana.

Special mention goes to our new pipers, Rachel and Rhona. There is a lot to learn to play in any marching band, uniform, marching, drill, never mind the tunes. Both have been attending practices regularly and are now an integral part of the band.

Welcome to the Rose and Thistle ladies, we are all looking forward to many more band engagements over the coming months.
